Refuse and Recycling Collection
The Village contracts with Waste Management to provide a comprehensive solid waste program designed to encourage recycling and waste reduction, and ensure that waste is disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
All homes in Fox Lake are required by Village ordinance (Title 5, Chapter 3 of the Fox Lake Municipal Code) to have weekly refuse collection. The Village contracts with Waste Management to provide trash and recycling collection services and yard waste collection (for an additional fee) on a weekly basis to single-family homes, duplexes and most multi-family properties (i.e., condominiums and town homes).
|Single-Family||$17.18 ($34.36 per billing)|
|Multi-Family||$16.86 ($33.72 per billing)|
All weekly generated solid waste and recycling materials (excluding building materials) must be placed out at the curb for collection by 6:00 a.m. on the day of your scheduled collection, but not before 5:00 p.m. the day before your pick-up. Keep in mind that separate trucks pick up trash, recycling materials and yard waste, so each of these items may be picked up at different times of the day.
All containers and any solid waste materials that are not collected must be removed from the curb by 8:00 a.m. the day after your scheduled collection. Carts are the property of Waste Management and are not to be removed from the property.
Each resident may dispose of an unlimited number of plastic bags or waste cans with handles. Residents also have the option to rent a 96-gallon trash cart through Waste Management for an additional monthly fee.
- Do not mix general refuse with yard waste. Trash cans/carts containing mixed refuse and yard waste will not be collected.
- Bags inside carts must be tied to eliminate blowing trash.
- A 65-gallon recycling cart with a yellow lid has been provided at no cost to each single-family home by Waste Management.
