Adjudication
The Village of Fox Lake conducts administrative adjudication hearings to resolve violations of municipal ordinances and certain provisions of the Illinois Motor Vehicle Code. This process provides a more efficient and accessible alternative to the traditional court system, allowing cases to be heard locally by a trained, independent Administrative Hearing Officer.
Adjudication hearings are civil proceedings, not criminal, and may result in fines or other penalties—but not jail time.
Types of Cases Heard
- Local ordinance violations (e.g., property maintenance, zoning, code enforcement)
- Red light camera violations
