Fox Lake, IL – April 1, 2023 – The Village of Fox Lake is proud to announce Pelican Palooza, a two-week event taking place from April 1 to April 16, 2023. This celebration of the American White Pelican Migration aims to highlight local businesses, parks, and public spaces while providing fun and engaging activities for people of all ages.
Pelican Palooza offers numerous events and attractions, including:
Photo Contest: Submit your Local Pelican Photography to FLParksandRec1@gmail.com between March 22 and April 17, 2023. Photos will be posted on Facebook, with the most liked entries being awarded prizes.
Kids Crafts: Pelican-themed activities will be available at the Fox Lake District Library from March 31 to April 17. For more information, please call the library at (847) 587-0198.
Photo Exhibit: Enjoy local pelican photography on display at the Fox Lake District Library on the second floor from March 25 to April 17.
Scavenger Hunt: Download the Goosechase app for free on Apple or Google Play, search for Pelican Palooza or enter code X4QR4V to start the hunt. The Scavenger hunt will run from April 1 through April 16, 2023. Earn 800 points and receive a free cookie, and those who complete all missions will be entered into a raffle for prizes.
Pelican Education: Join Lake County Forest Preserve educators on Thursday, April 6, at 7 p.m. via Zoom for "A Wonderful Bird is the Pelican" virtual program. Discover where pelicans nest and breed, how and what they eat, where to spot them during migration, and learn about the challenges faced by these magnificent birds.
