Backflow Inspection Program
Every drinking water system in Illinois must have a cross connection control program, more commonly known as a backflow prevention program. Backflow prevention is designed to protect the public water supply from contamination from customer’s plumbing systems. Backflow prevention devices are required on all residential properties with irrigation systems. Commercial and industrial businesses also are required to have backflow prevention devices. It is a Village and State requirement that EVERY backflow device be inspected annually by a certified backflow tester.
The Village of Fox Lake has contracted with Backflow Solutions Inc. (BSI) to manage our backflow inspection program. BSI has experience managing similar programs for other municipalities across the country. Beginning 01/01/2014 BSI will serve as the primary point of contact for backflow inspections within the Village of Fox Lake and can be contacted at 800-414-4990 or online.
As stated previously it is a requirement that EVERY backflow device be inspected annually by a certified backflow tester. Effective 01/01/2014 the results of all backflow inspections must be submitted to BSI Online. Backflow prevention inspectors shall submit inspection results to BSI as part of their service.
Customers with known devices will receive a notification and reminder directly from BSI Online that testing is due. Once the annual inspection is complete, the testing company will enter that information directly into BSI’s online reporting system.
If you have any questions regarding the program please contact the Village of Fox Lake Sewer and Water Department at (847)587-3506 or BSI at 800-414-4990. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Together we can help ensure a safe water supply.
